
I've seen dozens of them try and fail, try and fail, again and again. Entrepreneurs, marketers, healers, copywriters - it doesn't matter what they do; they are making the same mistakes repeatedly.
The most common mistake I see is that they will spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on training and education, but they never take any action to CHANGE BEHAVIORS. Changing behaviors is what is going to change outcomes, not studying the behaviors.
Want to make more money? Do something different. Reading a book doesn't count. Buying a "kit" that you never open doesn't count. Reading every book you can find on The Law of Attraction doesn't count.
I'm not telling you don't read or to stop buying business development materials. Personal growth is imperative to your success. However, there has to come a time when you are done learning and ready to start DOING.
Apply what you learn and take action.
I would recommend that for every book you buy, or every class you get involved with, that you should challenge yourself to do ONE thing differently. Pick something that makes you uncomfortable and stretches you. Do something you wouldn't normally do - get out of that comfort zone!
If you do one thing differently for every book or class you pay for, then maybe then you'll feel like you're getting your money's worth. AND more importantly you'll see changes in the outcomes.
I've said this many times before and I know I'll say it again; there is one thing that is going to change your life and/or your business. It's discipline.
Here's an exercise for you. Choose ONE thing you are going to do differently. Tell yourself you are going to do it and just do it. It sounds simple, and it is. YOU are in control of your own destiny, no one else.
Don't make your "one thing" something huge and unrealistic, such as I am never going to eat chocolate again or I'm going to make 100 cold calls a day for the next month. Make your action something manageable. Have the discipline to do what you say you are going to do, even if you are only saying it to yourself. For example, tell yourself that you are going to post to your blog at least once a week. Or write a press release every month or every other month.
I know that you probably just finished a book or maybe a course. Sit down right now and choose the one thing you are going to do differently to change the way you run your business (or your life). Reading a thousand books will not get you more success in your business. But can you imagine if you applied your learning and made one significant change in your actions every week or month. You will see significant changes in your outcomes as well. Guaranteed!
